WoMen For All recently launched a petition calling upon the Republican National Committee to adopt the internationally recognized definition of antisemitism developed by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), so antisemitism can be immediately identified and properly quashed whenever it appears. WoMen For All is calling upon the United States, one of four countries that have not joined CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women), the only international human rights treaty to protect Women’s Rights, along with Iran, Palau and Tongo, to ratify CEDAW Now. Meanwhile, sister #Cities4CEDAW are working hard to ratify CEDAW city-by-city.
WoMen For All is working to bring attention to the first-ever 'National Domestic Workers Bill of Rights', expected to be introduced by Senator Kamala Harris and Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal when the new 2019 Congress convenes. The bill ensures protections and benefits to all domestic workers and closes legal loopholes which exclude domestic workers from federal labor and civil rights laws.
For generations, domestic work has been overlooked and devalued when other workers achieved hard-won gains. Domestic workers were excluded in the 1930’s New Deal guarantees of Minimum Wage, Overtime Pay and the Right to Unionize. Currently, most domestic workers still only earn $11 an hour or less, and almost all go without healthcare or retirement benefits.
