For every woman in political office in the U.S., there are three men. In 2018, 107 (78D, 29R) women hold seats in the United States Congress, comprising 20.0% of the 535 members; 23 women (23%) serve in the U.S. Senate, and 84 women (19.3%) serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. Five women non-voting delegates (3D, 2R) also represent American Samoa, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands in the United States House of Representatives. Read more…

U.S. HOUSE Eighty-four of the 432 House members are women (three seats are vacant).

GOVERNOR Six states are led by a woman. Two were appointed and not elected.

STATE LEGISLATURES Twenty-five percent of seats nationwide are held by women.
